What is a SE-PAR number?
SE-PAR is the packaging producer register operated by Naturvardsverket (Swedish EPA) (Producentansvarsregister (consolidated)). Every producer placing packaging on the SE market must hold a valid registration; the number proves the producer has met its Extended Producer Responsibility obligation for that stream.
Why marketplaces verify it (PPWR Article 45)
Under PPWR Article 45 a marketplace must obtain each seller's EPR registration and self-certification, and assess before activation that the information is complete and reliable, per country and waste stream (Article 45(4)-(6)). Fulfilment providers carry a matching obtain-assess-suspend duty under Article 45(7)-(8).
