What is a NL-BAT number?

NL-BAT is the battery producer register operated by Stichting OPEN (Stichting OPEN batterij-partners (registered battery producers)). Every producer placing battery on the NL market must hold a valid registration; the number proves the producer has met its Extended Producer Responsibility obligation for that stream.

Why marketplaces verify it (PPWR Article 45)

Under PPWR Article 45 a marketplace must obtain each seller's EPR registration and self-certification, and assess before activation that the information is complete and reliable, per country and waste stream (Article 45(4)-(6)). Fulfilment providers carry a matching obtain-assess-suspend duty under Article 45(7)-(8).
