What is a ADEME number?

ADEME is the packaging producer register operated by ADEME (ADEME identifiant unique (IDU)). Every producer placing packaging on the FR market must hold a valid registration; the number proves the producer has met its Extended Producer Responsibility obligation for that stream.

Why marketplaces verify it (PPWR Article 45)

Under PPWR Article 45 a marketplace must obtain and verify each seller's EPR registration per country and waste stream, and keep evidence it can show a regulator. A single check here returns the verdict, the register consulted, the capture timestamp and the evidence basis: the same record an audit pack is built from. The register remains the authoritative source; this tool reports what was checkable on the date.
